What does Fair Trade mean? It means that the cocoa we use is sustainably farmed and the farmer’s are paid a fair wage. It means that there was no child slave labor used in the farming or processing of the cocoa. It means you can feel good about your purchase!
We are using Cordillera chocolate in all of our truffles. Cordillera goes beyond organic - using no pesticides in any part of their business and paying farmers 150% of what Fair Trade requires. They also provide the funds to farmers three years before the cacao is ready as well as the tools the farmers need (including, in one case, a fire truck!). And their chocolate happens to be delicious!
* A portion of every sale goes to the BLU MOON Foundation Haiti Orphanage Adoption Program (HOAP). Our truffles have helped put in water filtration systems, pay for an orphanage renovation, and cover the costs of food, supplies and school uniforms for orphaned and abandoned children in Haiti.
